Donald Delucca, Golden Beach Chief of Police Finalist

Golden Beach, one of the most exclusive neighborhoods in South Florida, has narrowed their search for a new police chief down to six qualified candidates from the original 67. With Property Crime in the area totaling 2088.2 incidents per 100,000 people, Golden Beach residents expect their police force to be capable and effective. The next steps will be for City Manager Alexander Diaz and Mayor Glenn Singer to choose the top three from this group.

One of the finalists, Former Miami Beach Police Chief Donald De Lucca, clearly leads the pack in experience. With over 25 years of old fashioned know-how under his belt, he is a true veteran in every sense of the word. De Lucca has run a city that has over 95,000 permanent residents and hosts over 10 million tourists annually. He is no stranger to hard work and dedication. He made Chief in 2001 after rising through the ranks of the Miami Beach Police Department. De Lucca carries on this belief to his officers, encouraging comprehensive training so they are prepared for anything in a city that never sleeps and has endless summers.

While innovative training can help an officer be more prepared, nothing can replace the decades of knowledge De Lucca has acquired. Under De Lucca’s watchful eye, the Miami Beach Police Department received several accolades and developed ground-breaking methods for keeping Miami Beach’s unique tourism scene safe for both visitors and residents alike. Donald De Lucca retired from the Miami Beach Police Department in 2007 after what many called an -exemplary- career, however, he hasn’t slowed down.

Donald -Don- De Lucca is now the Senior VP of an elite service provider of security and risk mitigation services. He is also a member of the International Association of Chiefs of Police and the Police Executive Research Forum. Donald Delucca is committed to staying current and knowledgeable in the security field and is constantly achieving new levels of professional success. These attributes make him a well- rounded and informed individual and finalist for this new role as police chief.

Under his authority, crime rates in Miami Beach dropped 30% overall. Several times while serving as Miami Beach Police Chief, crime rates dropped to historically low rates. To the residents of Golden Beach, this type track record could be exactly what they are looking for to lower the crime rate and bring peace of mind to the small, but heavily populated town.

Chief Donald Delucca is a twenty-five year veteran of the Miami Beach Police Department.
